  • Hi everyone

I recently purchased and have great success using the T665 phone, This prompted us to also buy a T865. Will use the phone on my wifes bike and the pad on mine for the time being. We’ll get another T865 towards the end of the year when we updrade my wifes bike. .

However, we are having trouble with the new T865 pad. It won’t zoom into where we are located when pressing the compass icon in the map section. Have to do this manually. Also, in the ‘Follow location modes’ section, have checked ‘Travel Oriented’ (follows location with map rotation so that top matches your travel orientation) but it doesn’t happen. When following a route, the location won’t keep up with the map and you ride out of the location on the screen. Basically means we can’t navigate with the device. Also tried the North Oriented options (not our preference) just to see if this works, but it doesnt. Didn’t have this trouble with the T665 (the location icon stays central to the screen and the map moves under it) and have made sure that every setting is exactly the same on both devices. I’m sure there’s a fix, because the T865 is unusable as it is. Have spent a lot of time trying to work through this without success. Any ideas from the community or Thork Racing would be greatly appreciated.
    THnaks very much

    • Hello
This sounds the same as this: https://www.drivemodedashboard.com/support/faqs/?Display_FAQ=9021
Basically you want that top left icon to be a compass!
If that does not fix it then it sounds like an hardware issue and you should contact support!
You can email rafael directly: rafael@thorkracing.com

      • Good afternoon Joao

Thank you very much for your response. It is very much appreciated.
I did have the top left icon as a compass, so that wasn’t the issue. However, the situation has now largely resolved itself. I am pretty sure that the problem was the interrelationship with the controller which I was learning to use at the same time. When I panned out or in out, the ‘Follow Mode’ became disabled. If I then touched the compass icon, it became enabled again. Not sue why and will have to experiment to work this out (unless you have any ideas). I have a DMD Remote 2. In the Remote Controller Settings, I have selected Auto Detect. Do you recomend this, or should I specifically select ‘DMD Remote 2’? Think I’ll try that.

I am also having problem loading an app that I use to open my garage door remotely onto the pad. Very handy when I ride back home – wont have to get my phone out! It would seem that the app developers software (Cloudflare) considers the pad / hardware to be a ‘security threat’. They suggested that I contact the pad manufacturer and advise them of this. I will contact Rafael directly and provide him with the e-mail / details the app developer provided if thats OK? This is an app I would really like to get onto the pad.

        Thank you once again.

  • Hi everyone
Very new to DMD2 and trying to create some routes. Past experience is with Basecamp.
Was in the GPX Editor and the mapping changed. unexpectedly. Seemed I ‘clicked’ on ‘something’ I shouldn’t have. It now has very high resolution color and, in Open Topo, now wont zoom in below 300m. The whole visual has changed and I can’t get it back to the way it was.
Apologies for what must have been some sort of silly mistake, but cant use the software in the current format. Screenshot of the current resolution zoomed in as far as it will go without blanking out included.
    Many thanks in advance
    Dave

    • See if you can change layers here:

      • Hi Thor
Thanks for coming back to me! Really appreciate it.
I can certainly change layers, but I want to use Open Topo Map so not sure why I would? In Open Street Map, I can zoom in closer. But, want Topo as all my riding is off road. When I first looked at Topo a week or so ago, I recall being able to zoom in a lot closer and see tracks. Can’t do that now! As it is at present, I can’t use GPX Editor and get a track that I can actually use (as per the screenshot I attached to my original post). Something must be wrong? Really keen to make this work for a trip to West Africa next year. Love all tbe maps that are available for so many countries
        Thanks again
        Dave

        • I tried looking at your screenshot in gps editor and found that I can’t zoom more either. Not sure why.do you get the necessary detail in layer CyclOSM? It can zoom more, but there’s no more detail. I also tried in gpx.studio, same result. I find that the most detailed and closest to topo is CyclOSM.

This is a link to the opentopo site, and i cant get any closer in that either:

          • Hi again Thor
Thanks once more for taking the time to look into this.
I have been so impressed with the detail DMD2 shows in the topo on the devices (I’m currently using a T665 and probably going to purchase a pad)
I’m surprised that the detail in the GPX Editor is so far away from what’s shown on the hardware? Would have thought that they would be the same – seems not.
I have now purchased topo maps from a third party for Australia that has the detail I require. I can create tracks and routes in Basecamp, convert them to a GPX file and then open them on the T665 via Google Drive. This works perfectly – such a shame it cannot be done through GPX Editor. Someone else has recommended I consider Open Street Map OSM for Africa (not sure if this is the same as the Open Topo Map you have suggested – will look at them both today). Again, the detail in Africa on what’s loaded into the T665 is astounding! Will let you know what I discover.
Maybe improving the detail in GPX Editor (I’m sure it’s not a simple thing) would be worth considering so it is able to be used in an off road environment?
            Appreciate your help once again
            Dave

            • Hello Thor
I have another question if I may? I believe you are a part of the Thork Racong team?
The T655 has been awesome and I am considering a pad with the T655 going onto my wifes bike. I know you guys sell the T865, but I am also considering the Carpe Iter pad. If I go down that route, I believe that I can load DMD2 onto the Carpe Pad? Assume it will run ‘exactly’ the same on the CI pad as it does on the T655? This is important – the software is absolutely awesome and it works so well when riding. Asssuming tbis is the case, would I have to repurchase maps to ise on the CI or are the ones I have with the T655 transferable? Do I have an ‘account’ as such?
I recognise that Thork Racing and Carpe Iter are different businesses, but you seem to be very inter-related in many ways.
              Thanks for your help
              Dave

            • Hi David, there are a lot of interesting items in your two messages, so ill try to sort them out. First of all, I do not work for Thork and Im not part of their team. I am a reseller for Thork in Norway, and I translate the DMD2 app to Norwegian for fun.
ABout maps: I would love to see a screenshot of the different maps you have bought as a comparison to free maps. OpenTopo and OpenSTreetMap are just to sides of the same coin. Both are open source and crowd-based in regards to detail and updates. I have reached out to the developer in advhub to see if its possible to get identical map sources/mapviews between the DMD-devices and the planning tool.
About tablets: My own preference would be to stay away from the Carpe. I have the T865 myself and im very happy with it. If you get a carpe you would need to buy new licences for the DMD2 software, and you miss out on all the features that are specfici to the software on a DMD device. Going through google play will always be an issue, and maybe some features will never be the same. i.e gpx-recording today cannot be done on a google play installed version on the app if the app is in the background.

    • HI Thor
Please accept my apologies for the delayed response. I will attach some screenshots from the OZTopo maps that I am now using here in Australia (see below). A ‘lot’ more detail and ability to zoom in.
I have purchased the T865 on your recomendation (instead of the Carpe) as it seems to make a lot of sense to uste the hardware developed by the software provider. Apart from some teathing issues I’m trying to resolve (will be putting up a post regarding this) amreally enjoying it. Seems it should be exactly the same as the T665 which we found to work exceptoionally well. Have bought a controller too, so setting everything up and starting to get it to work. We have a month long ride planned for the end of this month, so excited to see how it all fits together.
      Thanks once again
      Dave
