ParticipantDoes anybody know about source, to display in map view unpaved roads in different colour styles? By which information, DMD2-App is able to use different colors especially for unpaved roads?

ParticipantAs far as I know, you can’t change the colors of the different road types.
The Legend that identifies what type roads the different colors represent can be found here: https://www.drivemodedashboard.com/topo-map-legend/

Participantoh – sorry, misunderstood. I know the legend of the colors in DMD2-App.
The question was: why and from where does the App knows, which color to use for what road!
Question afterwards: what, if such a color indication is wrong? Could be, I’m actually on this road and can see p.e. it’s paved now. Th whom I could report this?

ParticipantFor the source, Thork/The DMD Developers probably accessed the most recent GIS info for the Country.
I agree that some, like the smooth Compacted / gravel / fine gravel / pebble-stone, Light Green colored roads, you may find get paved eventually, depending on amount and what kind of vehicle use/travel the road department is seeing on it. In my experience, you don’t see the more primitive roads getting upgraded with pavement.
So whatever the GIS info source categorized a road as at the time Thork implemented it, I’d say it’s a pretty good bet that’s what you’re going to see.
The Light Green roads are normally well maintained. Everything else, if anything, they’ll get worse over time, fall to the next lower class road, before they get better.

KeymasterThe source for the data is Open Street Maps project.

ParticipantThank you @João for confirmation. But I’m sorry, the answer wasn’t detailed enough. If I check a map from Open Street Map project and compare a small region with same area in a DMD2 map, then I can see couple of ways in same style in OSM, but in different colours in DMD2 map.
That’s the point I’m wonder. I can deep dive in data of OSM map, but I’m not able to find that pice of info, to make different colors in DMD2 map.

ParticipantI imagine OSM built their maps from the latest GIS info and then the developers of the DMD maps used that data, then customized how they wanted the different category of highways, roads and trails to look like on their DMD map. I’m sure the colors for each are hard coded in the software.
You’d have to get access to the program at a coding level, and then with an appropriate editor, find the relevant line, change the RGB settings for the color YOU want. Seems to me that might be possible with the .APK download of the DMD software, if you have the right programing/editing tools.
I’d be happy with just having a Legend on the tablet itself that I can call up, to remind of me of what’s what when out in the field.
