I really like to organize by routes in folders. For example, by month or year. The list just grows to overwhelming size. Is this possible? I can’t figure out how.

You didn’t say what type of storage or the location of it that you’re trying to organize your files in.

If you have a PC or a Laptop, I find it much easier and convenient to layout the file system I want on an SD card, with all my routes, tracks and any other type files that I want on it that can be accessed by the various apps on the device I’m using. Then install the SD card to the device.

I am trying to get them organized on the hard drive of the dmd tablet. With your method, you have to load the SD card in an external usb c port each time you want to load a track, correct?

No, you don’t have to remove the card.

Connect the tablet vis USB to a PC/laptop The laptop will power on when connected. If the tablet doesn’t show up in Windows/File Explorer, go into the tablet Settings app (not DMD Settings) > Connected Devices > USB > Use USB For > select File Transfer.

The tablet will then show up in Windows Explorer. Both the Internal memory and the SD card will show up and you can transfer files back and forth directly.

Plugging into the PC with a usb c sounds like the simple solution that I’m looking for.

Now dumb question, but it’s related, so I’ll ask it. After I record a GPX track on the T865x, I save it and name it, but I can’t find it. Where does it go? It doesn’t show up in the list of tracks.

When I plugged in to my PC, I was able to find them here: This PC\T865\Internal shared storage\Android\data\com.thorkracing.dmd2launcher\files\User\GPX\Recordings

But I still can’t load the recorded GPX files into the list of GPX files. When I try to map there on the T865x, it won’t let me get there. I bet there is a simple solution that I’m missing.

I haven’t had my tablet long enough to get out and record a track yet. But just going thru the GPX menu, I found that same folder that your recording was found in without having to connect the tablet to the PC.

Tap the GPX icon at the top of the map screen >select Load File. In the top right of the screen is a hamburger menu (3 lines) tap that, select what directory you want to access, the T865 or your SD card. Selecting the T865 shows all of its File folders. The Recordings folder is there.

There are 2 Settings menus, one for DMD and the other for the tablet. You can also get to the tablets and SD cards files and folders from the tablets settings menu without going thru the Load GPX function. At the bottom of the screen, tap on the 4 stacked boxes. Select Settings> select Files. That’s the same menu that you see when you are accessing it thru the GPX Load function. Use the hamburger menu in the top left to change directory.

It sounds like you’re wanting to move files from the Recordings folder of the Tablets directory to a GPX folder you’ve made to the SD cards directory. When you tap on any file in either the SD card or the Recording folder, it just gives you the option to open in DMD or Google Wallet. I’m not finding a way to transfer files in the Recordings folder of the T865 to the SD card internally “with the tablet”.

The only way I’m finding to do that is when it’s connected to the PC. Drag and drop or copy and paste from one directory to the other.

So this is the dumbest question. Everybody talks like they leave their SD card in their tablet. Is there a place to put an SD card in the tablet without using a usb-c adapter?

Is there a way to just route the “saved” gpx files to the same directory where all the others are located? This is what All Trails and Gaia do automatically, so I bet there is a way for DMD2 to do it.

Yes. The SD card slot is under the same rectangular panel on the back of the tablet as the SIM cards. There are 2 SIM card slot and an SD card slot. I leave my SD card in all the time unless I need to remove it for some reason.
