ParticipantAnd to close this thread about the NotifMate app, since there’s now the official DMD2 Hub app that should take its place, I’ve found a workaround on the caller id issue above (which also affects the DMD Hub app in the same way). You cannot use your official phone app to get the push notifications properly, you have to use a non-native app such as CallApp or Truecaller. I’ve tested both and they work correctly, giving me full caller id info when someone calls my phone.
And, as a sidenote, its a bit ridiculous to have 3 places to post stuff for the DMD2 app. Facebook, Discord and this site, all to do the same thing, process issue and discuss new features. I’ve had only one reply from all three platforms from Thork/DMD, so I think I’ll just stop bothering them to try to 1, help them get the DMD2 app to work with native phone apk files, and 2, try to get any replies from them. I’ve tried to help and did a bunch of testing and reading on my own time to help the guys out, but I guess its just not important enough to find a solution to the issue. And, if you do have the issue of no actual data other than “incoming call” when you get a push message, try using those alternate apps for dialing from your phone, set that as the place for data from within the DMD Hub app (and turn off your other oem phone apps from sending info to your device) and it should work fine.

ParticipantDid you install one of those apps on your android phone, the DMD device, or both? I suppose that’s a dumb question.
It would be cool if we could tap on an incoming text and be able to read the whole thing. Or maybe allow customization of the size of the notification box.
Thanks for the help on this one. There are only a few kinks left on the DMD (for me) and this is one of them. I can live with the 2 lines of the text that I can see, but I’d like to see more.
Thanks for the help.

ParticipantSo I installed the NotifMate first on both the phone and the T665, got them talking correctly and then installed on my samsung phone CallApp, then turned everything off in NotifMate in its list of apps to send notifications from. I then turned just the CallApp in that list on to make sure it was able to receive the caller id, and it did!
I then disabled NotifMate and did the exact same thing with the DMD Hub app, same process, turn all off, try just having the CallApp in the list, and tried it, it also worked correctly! I then turned on the txt app, MyQ (garage door) app, AquaMail (email) app and checked each one of them, they all worked correctly too. So, the issue is not with the DMD Hub or NotifMate app, its with the oem “phone” app not allowing any messages to be pushed through to those apps. I’m sure there’s a way to do this, as my cheapo Chinesium Amazfit watch receives phone calls perfectly, and that too is through a bluetooth connection with its app on my samsung phone.
So, a couple of caveats here, guess I should mention it just as an FYI for others. The DMD Hub app requires Google Play Store to be active on the sending phone, it will crash if it is not. I had to re-enable all of that nonsense to get the DMD Hub app to work. I get it, Thork needs to use the play store to host the app properly, and I’m sure there’s some sort of silly requirement of Google to have the app check for Play store if they want their app to be hosted there. Fortunately, the NotifMate doesn’t require it, so I’ve switched back to that for now. So if you’re using a phone without play store enabled, you won’t be able to run the DMD Hub app.
I love my DMD T665 and the app is phenomenal, I will most likely upgrade to the tablet some day soon too, but the Hub app still needs a bit of serious work to be ready for prime-time. And I was actually surprised at how much text I got when a txt came through on my ride this past weekend! It was definitely enough for me to determine whether I needed to pull over or wait till my next stop to reply. I can also say, with the small T665, its best that I don’t have any more text on the screen while I’m riding to read! I am sure I took my eyes completely off the road for at least 4 or 5 seconds, and if it were any longer of a txt, I could see myself missing another few seconds of looking where I’m goin’!!! Probably not a huge issue if you’re puttin’ around on a trail at 5-10mph, but at 55 on a busy highway, probably not a good idea. And no, I wasn’t on one when I got a txt, I was on a paved, straight country road.
Hope one of the apps works out for ya! Reply here if you run into issues, I can try to help you out if you need it. Couple of pics in case you didn’t see them over on the Discord server, first pic is from DMD Hub, 2nd pic is NotifMate:

ParticipantOn your phone, did you go to settings – apps – DMD hub – notifications – allowed? I have Android 14, and it does work well on it.

ParticipantYep, definitely need to allow all notifications on the sending side. What phone are you using to send to the dmd2 device? You’ll need to also go through and select the apps you want notifications to pass over to the dmd2 device.
Also, if you’re not using a dmd2 device but just the dmd2 app on another phone, I believe you also have to allow that to receive notifications like G Heath Neely said. You’ll also need to turn that feature on in the settings of dmd2. Hit the settings gear in the dmd2 app, and towards the bottom of the settings and make sure you have “enable notifications pop-up turned on, it should then ask you to allow permission for notifications if you haven’t already done so.

ParticipantMy phone is Samsung S24 ultra with android 15 beta 4, and for my “navigation” it’s a Doogee s95 pro with android 10. Do i need hub installed on both devices ?
Still no luck5 March 2025 at 9:45 pm #34063flyinhawaiian968
ParticipantNope, no need to install the app on the other unit as I understand it. It is built-into the DMD2 nav software. Were you able to find that “enable notifications” entry in the settings? If you have it connected correctly, start the DMD2 nav app on the Doogee first, let it boot up and load, then open the DMDHub on your Samsung, if it connects correctly, you should get an acknowledgement on the Doogee, something like “connected to xxxxx”. If you don’t get that, try manually connecting to it via the bluetooth menu on each device, see if they are connected via bluetooth. If not, try forcing it to connect if you can see the other device in the bt menu.
If it IS connected and you get the message above, you should be able to have your samsung pass notifications over to the doogee device. If not, you’ll need to look into the various apps on the samsung’s list within the DMDHub menu. I’d say try to turn everything on, then test with a txt message, a phone call and whatever else you would like to see pop up on the doogee. If it does not, then there’s something wrong and you’ll have to hit Joao or John @ Thork up on the issue.

Participantit looks like my bletooth connection is interupted or something. On samsung there is information of possibile internet over bluetooth but that’s all . I’d say it’s not connected at all and this has to be why i don’t get any notif.
Every other setting was controlled again and is set as instructed
