DMD-T665 Google Pay cannot be used?

Either I have not used the right search terms or there is actually no information on this topic in this forum?
I have received the T665 new and set it up. However, I am unable to enter my credit card details in Google Pay. The following error message appears:
“Mobile payment cannot be set up on this device.
Your device does not fulfil the security standards for contactless payment. It may be rooted or running uncertified software….”
Is it generally not possible to use Google Pay (NFC) on the T665 or are there alternatives to Google Pay with the same scope that can be run on it?
