Hi, are there any plans to bring back the gear indicator in OBD on the newest DMD2 version(3)?

I know it’s an unstable thing because it calculates from speed and rpm, but I got it to work pretty flawlessly after fiddling around with the settings for half a day.

Riding, setting different rpm parameters, test riding etc.

Ver 3.00041 crashing on start, after update from 39. Android 14, Oneplus phone. Bug update: seems to me that crashes occurs when there is no gps fix. When phone has gps location locked, ver 41 sometimes starts fine and sometimes still crashes.

Resolved with app data erase and then map reinstall…

    Bug in ver 3.00043:

On GPX re-load (for instance, after app start or change of the theme due to light sensor) “POI icon highlight” (map view/stack of cards) doesn’t work as expected. Let’s say, I have: Fuel, Peaks and Parking as selected highlighted POIs (nothing else). After GPX reload only Fuel shows and Hospitals shows (not selected!), on appropriate zoom levels. Then I go again to “POI Icon Highlight” and select and deselect Hospitals, deselect and select again Peaks and Parking. After that everything shows as expected, but ONLY until next GPX reload! This happens in Android 13 and 14 both, dmd as home app and not, both.

Also, where can we find updated changelog (other than facebook, unfortunately not all of us have and use FB)? Changelog at the first page of this topic stopped at 3.00033 version. Thanks!

I analyzed a little bit gpx recording from today’s long ride and it seems to me that you log DEVICE time, not GPS time?

GPS time is more accurate approach, since device can be out of time sync (if manual time setting option is choosen in android).

    Ver. 30032

PS: Also, what is badly 🙂 needed in this “gpx recording” department :

    1. Setting for gpx log color

    2. Setting for gpx log thickness & opacity

    3. Setting for show/not show log (sometimes I want to record gpx, but I don’t want to see it in the map view, since it can be confusing in some specific situations)

    4. And MOST of all: setting for log frequency (now is 1 sec, which can be good, but sometimes it is too frequent – for loooong and slow rides, like hard enduro).

    I hope even google won’t mind for those… 🙂

All those are planned for when the GPX Recorder gets the next update.
I have been delaying it since there is a bunch of other things in line to finish.

    Hello John

When we use Speed on the main Screen it means we use gps speed. Because it is GPS Speed we will loose the GPS signal in tunnels. Would it be possible to replace GPS Speed in the Main view with odo speed as soon as the gps signal is lost??This would make the use of the Main Speed much more reliable.

    Added to the TODO List.

Today I installed 3.00039 on my device: The foreground service message on exit is really gone :-(. When switching to the device home screen (and not exiting DMD2!), the trip is not incremented and straight lines are drawn… 🙁 🙁 . Also, switching the screen off during DMD trip recording leads to the same problem.
So, that forces us to use DMD2 as start app and NEVER use another app over it that may switch the screen off (like during a phone call…). The only workaround currently is to record the trip with a third party app (like GPX logger recommended by Severian – it works really great! :-)).
John, can’t you explain the Google reviewer / approver that this will cost Google license fees (American companies are usually very sensitive to this…)? This is a huge limitation of functionality of a navigation / trip logging app!! Google has allowed the wished behavior already in DMD1 (which I sometimes still use :-). Why don’t they allow it in DMD2? –> Explain and ask him. May be the forum participants should send him a protest petition…
    😉

Probably the best solution really is providing an apk-download outside the google play store, if that discussion still does not help…

I made 3 different videos, made more than 10 appeals, filled a case with Google higher support, spent more than a month on this… always the same result.
The only solution is to move the app to an alternative distribution method…
    Im analysing solutions.

    Hello

For the Garmin Tread platform that will be a nice feature to have in the setting the possibility to store the maps on the external SD drive. It will be pretty cool when you activate this feature to copy all existing maps to the SD cards and if you desactivate it to recopy the maps from the SD card to the internal storage (data partition).

    Best regards

    It is already planned.
