I am setting up a Active 3 tab with DMD for use in a Land Rover for a trip from Alberton to Richters veld and Southern Namibia

I am using the DMD-T865 NAV TAB in my overlander around Europe and Morrocco.  So far working well, big learning curve, but it’s good to find out it works.  A very powerful toy.  I find it so much better than Garmin as their software/unit crashes often.  I use both systems for backup, but I prefer the DMD-T865 NAV TAB.

    Hi there

I just moved to T865x from garmin montanas and liking it but it’s a steep learning curve. I have it on my 300 series Land Cruiser and like the big display and options but the simplest of things are making me go crazy. E.g how do I get a straight line navigation for any POI I select?

What is a POI ? When you say POI do you by any chance mean “WAYPOINT”?
In DMD2 you can indeed search for POI in the location search dialog, but at this stage im trying to understand what are you calling “POI”.

PS. I also use DMD2 on the VW Amarok V6, its not my ride but my business partner lends it to me 🙂 At the moment im dreaming about the Ford Ranger Raptor. 😀
But this goes to show development in the DMD eco-system is taking in consideration 4×4/Overland since personally i like to go on the motorcycle with the boys and the truck with my wife and daughter.

Thank you Joao for the reply.

    Sorry yes, I meant a waypoint –

Once I upload a GPX file and I just simple want to select a waypoint and have a straight line navigate, regardless I’m on road or off-road ..I can’t seem to find the option.

What I get is Road and Off-road (easy med hard) options and they don’t give me a straight line navigate and stats like distance, bearing etc.

If u can guide me to that – it would be useful.

Also my DMD app crashed a few times while running since morning and recording the track – but when it restarted – it continued recording but then I got a lot of straight lines !

    Appreciate the support !

Hello, we have just finished adding the straight line option for GPX waypoints but we have not released the update yet. This will be available on the next update!
For now the only similar option you have is to long press on the map point where you want to go, save it as a location and enable the “Line To Location” option which is available for any saved location.
About your crash, what device is it? We should have received the log and whatever was crashing should already be fixed for the next update.

Delightful to hear the new developments! Not sure if my device T865X sent out the log to you but it crashed twice and I restarted the device as well. Worked fine onroad afterwards,
